Fredericksburg City Council and EDA to Host Joint Work Session

Fredericksburg City Council and the Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority will hold a joint work session at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, in Room 214 at Fredericksburg City Hall, 715 Princess Anne St.

The meeting has been titled, “Forging a shared path and vision.”

It’s the first meeting like this in at least the last 25 years, according to the EDA board. “We want to make the most of this opportunity,” said EDA Chair Amy LaMarca.

Following is the meeting agenda, as posted on the city’s website:
1. Call To Order, Mayor Mary Katherine Greenlaw

2. Opening remarks: Mayor Greenlaw and Amy LaMarca, EDA Chairman

3. City Council DRAFT strategic vision: Mayor Mary Katherine Greenlaw

4. EDA preliminary strategic vision: Amy LaMarca, EDA Chairman

5. Discussion (Moderated by Mary Katherine Greenlaw and Amy LaMarca): Aligning the two visions, and future potential collaboration on:
i. Strategic Plan (Discussion on merging appropriate Garner, Staff, Council and EDA pieces into one actionable City of Fredericksburg Economic Development Strategic Plan – in 2017)
ii. Parking (Update on Parking Action Plan work, now underway)
iii. Branding (Update on recent City evaluation, discuss possible next steps)
iv. Tourism (Update on Regional Tourism Forum)

6. Next steps: Proposed Quarterly meetings in 2017
• 7 p.m.: Feb. 21, May 16, August 15, November 21

The City Council – EDA joint work session will be preceded at 6:30 p.m. with an update on small area planning by consulting firm Streetsense. City of Fredericksburg planning staff are working with Streetsense staff to develop neighborhood-level long range plans for Planning Areas 3 and 6 in the city.
