Virginia Partners Bank Operations Officer Honored as a Rising Star
Gina Watson, operations officer at Virginia Partners Bank in Fredericksburg, has received statewide recognition from the Virginia Association of Community Banks (VACB), being named as a finalist in its first annual Rising Star Award competition. The award recognizes community involvement and volunteerism, as well as leadership by example within the bank and contributions to innovative programs and initiatives.

DanceFXBG Opens in Eagle Village
Valerie and Joel Webber have opened DanceFXBG at 1145 Jefferson Davis Hwy. in Fredericksburg’s Eagle Village shopping center. The studio is a part of their LindyintheBurg.com, LLC, swing-dance business. DanceFXBG offers fitness classes, including a cardio dance class called Werk, a combination of Pilates and yoga called PiYo, and hot hula. The host a weekly Saturday night Swing Dance.

Poet’s Walk is Sold
Poet’s Walk assisted-living facility for people with memory impairment, has been sold. S-H Mid-Atlantic Propco-Spotsylvania, LLC, purchased the three-year-old business for $23,526,315 from Spotsylvania Senior Real Estate, LLC, a division of Silver Companies real estate. It’s been renamed Cardinal Village, and is managed by Senior Lifestyles. Cardinal Village is located at 4621 Spotsylvania Pkwy., near Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.

Jan Williams Florals Sells Long-Time Shop, Looks for New Home
Jan Williams has sold the historic home at 720 William St. that has been home to her business — Jan Williams Florals — for 22 years. Jason and Heather Cohen purchased the property for an undisclosed price for their family home. Williams, who has spent 46 years in the floral business, is downsizing to a smaller shop. She will stay in her current location until she finds a new one. Coldwell Banker Commercial Elite’s Heather Hagerman managed the sale.

Backdoor Gallery Moving to Downtown Fredericksburg
Backdoor Gallery, currently located at 4500 Plank Rd., is moving to downtown Fredericksburg in 2017. Their new location will be at at 819 Caroline St., the former home of The Cats Closet.

The General Store Restaurant is for Sale
The General Store restaurant at 2018 College Avenue is for sale. Owner Bill Kertsos, who has owned the business for 38 years, said he will lease the building to the buyer.

Stafford resident Helen Wyckoff celebrated the opening of Bolts & Bows, a combination hardware store and gift shop at 807 Caroline St. in downtown Fredericksburg, with a ribbon cutting this month.
