University of Mary Washington’s Community Outreach and Resources (COAR) office is conducting its annual gift box drive to benefit local Head Start students.

“We encourage student groups, faculty and staff, and community members to donate items for our boxes, including scarves, gloves, small toys, coloring books, books, and crayons,” said Lizzy Wainer, COAR staff member. The items must not have a religious and war theme, and they should be suitable for children age 3 – 5.

Donations may be dropped off at the University of Mary Washington, University Center, Suite 320, 1301 College Ave. in Fredericksburg. Donations are accepted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday before November 30, 2016.

COAR is a non-profit organization at University of Mary Washington whose main goal is to serve Fredericksburg community. “We will be organizing the boxes and personally distributing them to Head Start locations in Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania,” Wainer said.
