Debby Girvan Receives 2016 Clarion Award
Debby Girvan, president of Flair Communication, was awarded a 2016 Clarion by The Association for Women in Communications. Her design and development of a new website for the Marine Corps Aviation Association www.flymcaa.org was the top entry in the category of “Online Media, New Website, Annual Budget of $15,000 or less.” This year’s competition drew entries from 24 states and three countries.

ScoutComms Leases New Office Space
Fredericksburg-based ScoutComms has moved to their new office at 521 Sophia St. in Fredericksburg. “We just celebrated our sixth anniversary in business, and the move is a demonstration of the tremendous growth we had this year,” said CEO Fred Wellman. “This year alone, our revenue increased by more than 80 percent, and our client base and staff doubled.

Cary Street Partners Participated in the Thanksgiving Day Meal Program
The Fredericksburg office of Cary Street Partners adopted six local families and provided them with a full Thanksgiving meal. They are pictured with a portion of the items supplied to each family. Cary Street Partners provides securities brokerage, insurance, and investment advisory services.

Gari Melchers Coloring Book
Gari Melchers has his own coloring book. Twenty-three paintings from the Belmont collection are represented in the book, which has a spiral binding for ease of coloring. The book is available at the Gari Melchers Home and Studio at Belmont museum gift shop.

Peruvian-Style Chicken Restaurant to Open in Fredericksburg
Peruvian-style rotisserie chicken restaurant Super Rico will soon open at 2386 Plank Rd. in Fredericksburg. The company, which has six locations in Washington D.C., and Maryland, purchased the former Arby’s in the Gateway Shopping Center for $1.07 million, according to the deed.

Regional Tourism Partnerships Forum
Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Stafford will co-host a public interactive forum and panel discussion on regional tourism partnerships from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12. The event will be held at Riverside Center for the Performing Arts, 95 Riverside Pkwy, in Fredericksburg. The agenda is available online. Barbara Scott Receives a Larry Atkins Award
Gari Melchers Home and Studio Front Desk Attendant Barbara Scott was awarded a 2016 University of Mary Washington (UMW) Staff Advisory Council’s Larry Atkins Award. The award recognizes UMW staff who, “Lend a helping hand to their teammates; go “Above and Beyond” in each and every task while wearing a smile on their face; and set a positive example for the UMW employees.”
