River Rock Outfitter will host their third annual New Year’s Day Hike and Trail Run from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017.
“We want to start the year off right with a healthy, family-friendly activity,” said owners Keith and April Peterson. “This hike is a great way to get outdoors and ring in the new year with friends.”
The free event will be held at Alum Spring Park. You can access the park from Alum Spring Road off Lafayette Blvd., or from Greenbrier Drive off Route 3 in Fredericksburg.
Julia will lead a 5-mile run through the park.
Meegana will lead a 2.5-mile hike on the paved VCR trail. The trail is stroller and dog friendly.
Both groups will meet back at the picnic area for traditional New Year’s Day fare.
Merrell is sponsoring this year’s hike. There will be Merrell giveaways on a first come first served basis, and a raffle of Merrell gear.
River Rock Outfitter, located at 915 Sophia St. in downtown Fredericksburg, is a community-based specialty outdoor retailer providing equipment, classes, and events.
