Spotsylvania Christmas Parade First Place Float in Commercial Division
Unforgettable Moments Photography (UMPhotos) in conjunction with The Battlefield Country Store, The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office, Greater Fredericksburg Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and Autos Direct D3 won first place in the commercial float / vehicle division in the 39th annual Spotsylvania Christmas Parade.

Religious Freedom Day Celebration 2017
Fredericksburg’s annual Religious Freedom Day Celebration will be held on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017. The parade will depart the Fredericksburg train station at 1:30 p.m., and the ceremony at the Religious Freedom Monument will begin at 2 p.m. “The speaker lineup is still being confirmed,” said organizer Karen Klugh. The Knights of Columbus have held the celebration every year since 1974, to honor President Thomas Jefferson and his drafting of The Act for Establishing Religious Freedom. It was one of the sources Congress used when drafting the Bill of Rights in 1789.

RACSB Accredited by CARF International
The Rappahannock Area Community Services Board has received an eighth consecutive three-year accreditation from CARF International. This accreditation is the highest level that can be awarded to an organization, RACSB staff said. CARF International is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services.

Company Awarded for Spotsylvania Virginia Railway Express Park and Ride
Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson Inc. (JMT) received a merit award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Virginia for “displaying design professionalism and engineering excellence” in its site design for the Virginia Railway Express Spotsylvania park-and-ride lot and entrance road site improvements. JMT is an employee-owned architectural/engineering company headquartered in Sparks, Maryland.

Boots to Business Reboot Scheduled January 27 in Stafford
The Small Business Administration (SBA) and the UMW Small Business Development Center will host a Boots to Business Reboot Workshop from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on January 27, 2016. Boots to Business is an entrepreneurship training program for veterans and their spouses.
