Hazelwild Farm’s Therapeutic Riding Program has received a $1,000 donation in honor of Karen Radley.

Radley, who died in 2015, opened her first car dealership in Fredericksburg in 1979, with her husband Vincent. She supported many civic and charitable causes in the Fredericksburg community, and she loved horses.

“Hazelwild Farm’s Therapeutic Riding Program was near and dear to Karen’s heart, and it truly met at the intersection of her love of people and of horses,” said Michael Allen, chief information officer of the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association.

This donation is an Ambassador Grant from the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Foundation, which was funded by contributions from the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association, Karen’s team at the Radley Automotive Group, and other friends.

“This is the first of many contributions which will grow in size, as the Ambassador Grant is an endowment which will continue to make donations in Karen’s honor,” Allen said. “Karen inspired many, and the Ambassador Grant will honor her life in perpetuity.”

Hazelwild’s Therapeutic Riding Program offers specialized horseback riding lessons for all ages of riders with physical, cognitive, and emotional disabilities. These include Autism, Asperger’s, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, developmental delays, mental retardation, Fragile X Syndrome, and visual impairments. Hazelwild Farm is located at 5325 Harrison Rd. in Fredericksburg.

Radley owned multiple dealerships in Fredericksburg, Woodbridge, and Falls Church. She served as chairperson of the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association, was a recipient of the Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award for Virginia, and served on the boards of the University of Mary Washington and Mary Washington Hospital.
