VDOT hot spots in Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Caroline, and King George for February 12 – 18, 2017.

City of Fredericksburg
Interstate 95 Northbound
(Update) Sunday ˗˗ Monday, 9 p.m. – 1 a.m. Two lanes will be closed on I-95 northbound at mile marker 131 (Fall Hill Avenue). Crews will be cleaning and staining the new bridge on the northbound side till 1 a.m. then move over to the southbound side.

Interstate 95 Southbound
(Update) Sunday ˗˗ Monday, 1 a.m. ˗˗ 5 a.m. Two lanes will be closed on I-95 southbound at mile marker 131 (Fall Hill Avenue). Crews will be cleaning the southbound side of the new overpass till 5 a.m. All travel lanes will be open to traffic by 5 a.m. each evening.

Route 1 Northbound at Mary Washington Boulevard
(New) Friday, Midnight ˗˗ 6 a.m. A single right lane will be closed on northbound Route 1 from Alvey Drive to the Rappahannock Canal. Crews will be working on the traffic signal at the Route 1 and Mary Washington Boulevard intersection. Expect brief delays approaching the work zone.

Fall Hill Avenue
(New) Thursday, 7 p.m. ˗˗ Midnight. Crews will be working on the traffic signals on Fall Hill Avenue at the Gordon Shelton Boulevard intersection till 10 p.m. then move to the Wicklow Drive intersection till midnight. Virginia State Police will be on the scene to assist with traffic control and direct motorists through both intersections. Expect brief delays.

In addition to:
Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Fall Hill Avenue between Carl D. Silver Parkway and the Rappahannock Canal for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Mary Washington Boulevard
Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures between Hospital Drive and Sam Perry Boulevard as part of the Fall Hill Avenue widening project. Motorists should stay alert for ongoing work in the median with crews working to install new curb and paving.

Stafford County
Interstate 95 Southbound
(New) Monday ˗˗ Wednesday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 6 a.m. Two lanes will be closed on I-95 southbound at mile marker 135 to Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth) to allow crews to make bridge deck repairs to the bridge over Route 17. A single lane will be closed at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. All lanes will be open to traffic by 6 a.m.

Exit 140/Courthouse Road
(New) Sunday − Thursday, 9 p.m. to 10 a.m. and Friday, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews will be taking soil samples along the I-95 northbound and southbound entrance and exit ramps at Exit 140. All ramps will remain open to traffic, but motorists should be alert for shoulder closures or slight narrowing of the ramps. This work is part of the I-95/Courthouse Road interchange relocation and widening project.

Chatham Bridge
(New) Thursday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 6 a.m. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions on the Chatham Bridge over the Rappahannock River. Crews will be repairing the sidewalks on the bridge from Stafford County into the city of Fredericksburg.

Route 1 at Falmouth Bridge
(Update) Sunday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 1 a.m. Traffic on northbound and southbound Route 1 at the Falmouth Bridge will be reduced to one lane for bridge deck repairs. Motorists should expect brief delays. All lanes will be open to traffic by 1 a.m.

Route 608 (Brooke Road)
(New) Monday, 1a.m. ˗˗ 6 a.m. Motorists will be restricted to one lane on Route 608 (Brooke Road) between Route 629 (Andrew Chapel Road) and Route 677 (Mt. Hope Church Road). Crews will be making repairs to the bridge over the Accokeek Creek. Flaggers will control one-way traffic over the bridge. Expect brief delays.

Route 630 (Courthouse Road) at Ramoth Church Road
(New) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 3 p.m. Motorists can anticipate intermittent single lane closures, shoulder closures and a mobile work zone on Route 630 (Courthouse Road) between Route 628 (Ramoth Church Road) and Cedar Lane. Crews will be taking soil samples as part of the Courthouse Road widening project on both Courthouse Road and Ramoth Church Road. Expect brief delays.

Nothing this week in Spotsylvania, Caroline, or King George.
