VDOT hot spots in Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Caroline, and King George for February 19 – 25, 2017.

City of Fredericksburg
Interstate 95 Northbound
(Update) Sunday ˗˗ Monday, 9 p.m. – 1 a.m. Two lanes will be closed on I-95 northbound at mile marker 131 (Fall Hill Avenue). Crews will be cleaning and staining the new bridge on the northbound side till 1 a.m. then move over to the southbound side.

Interstate 95 Southbound
(Update) Sunday ˗˗ Monday, 1 a.m. ˗˗ 5 a.m. and Tuesday ˗˗Wednesday, 9:30 p.m. ˗˗ 5 a.m. Two lanes will be closed on I-95 southbound at mile marker 131 (Fall Hill Avenue). Crews will be cleaning the southbound side of the new overpass till 5 a.m. All travel lanes will be open to traffic by 5 a.m. each morning.

Fall Hill Avenue
Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Fall Hill Avenue between Carl D. Silver Parkway and the Rappahannock Canal for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Mary Washington Boulevard
Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures between Hospital Drive and Sam Perry Boulevard as part of the Fall Hill Avenue widening project. Motorists should stay alert for ongoing work in the median with crews working to install new curb and paving.

Stafford County
Interstate 95 Southbound
(New) Friday ˗˗ Saturday, 10 p.m. ˗˗ 7 a.m. One southbound I-95 lane and shoulder will be closed near Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville), as crews begin construction of a proposed sound wall, as part of the Southern Terminus extension of the Express Lanes. The Route 610 entrance ramp to southbound I-95 will also be narrowed. Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control.

Route 1
(New) Sunday, 10 p.m. ˗˗ 9 a.m. and Monday, 10 p.m. ˗˗ 7 a.m. A single southbound lane on Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) will be closed near the Telegraph Road intersection, for less than a half mile for a sanitary sewer project.

Chatham Bridge
(New) Sunday ˗˗ Thursday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 6 a.m. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions on the Chatham Bridge over the Rappahannock River. Crews will work to improve sidewalks and railings on the bridge between Stafford County and the city of Fredericksburg. Pedestrian access may be restricted to one side of the bridge overnights when crews are working.

Routine Maintenance
Tuesday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:
· Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) near Butler Rd., Eskimo Hill Rd., and Hope Road – shoulder work
· Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) – pothole patching between Route 1 and Joshua Road
· Route 630 (Shelton Shop Road) – pothole patching
· Route 644 (Rock Hill Church Road) – pothole patching
· Route 648 (Stefaniga Road) – brush removal
· Route 684 (Mine Road) – pothole patching
· Route 671 (Van Horn Lane) – brush removal
· Route 692 (Quarry Road) – pothole patching

Spotsylvania County
Routine Maintenance
Tuesday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:
· Route 208 (Courthouse Road) ˗˗ maintenance work
· Route 612 (Stubbs Bridge Road) ˗˗ maintenance work
· Route 614 (Dickerson Road) ˗˗ pothole patching
· Route 639 (Leavells Road) – shoulder work
· Route 647 (Blaydes Corner Road) ˗˗ maintenance work
· Route 659 (Lanes Corner Road) ˗˗ maintenance work
· Route 670 (Winding Road) ˗˗ pothole patching

Caroline County
Routine Maintenance
Tuesday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:
· Route 207 (Rogers Clark Boulevard) – debris pickup
· Route 301 (A.P. Hill Boulevard) ˗˗ ditch cleaning
· Route 606 (Stonewall Jackson Road) – brush removal
· Route 619 (Milford Street) ˗˗ ditch cleaning
· Route 638 (South River Road) ˗˗ brush removal
· Route 641 (Perimeter Road) – tree removal operations
· Stonewall Lane ˗˗ brush removal

Caroline County/King George County
Route 301 at Rappahannock River
(New) Wedensday ˗˗ Thursday, 6:30 a.m. ˗˗6:30 p.m. Traffic will be down to a single lane on Route 301 northbound and southbound at the bridge over the Rappahannock River for work related to the bridge rehabilitation project. Expect brief delays on the bridge and at the bridge approaches.
