Severe Thunderstorms with Damaging Winds and Large Hail Possible March 1

Scattered severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and large hail are possible in the afternoon and evening of Wednesday, March 1, 2017, the National Weather Service reports. The most likely time for severe thunderstorms is between 2 and 9 p.m.

A gale warning is in effect for the waters today and tonight.

A wind advisory may be required tonight for winds in excess of 45 miles per hour.

Detailed Forecast
Wednesday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 4 p.m. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. Breezy, with a southwest wind 14 to 23 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 34 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday night: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before midnight. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Low around 45. Breezy, with a southwest wind around 21 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 31 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 55. Northwest wind 13 to 18 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 28 miles per hour.
