From the Virginia Department of Transportation

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will begin paving on Route 618 (River Road) in Spotsylvania County beginning Tuesday, March 21, 2017. This is rescheduled from the previous week, due to the weather.

Crews will be paving approximately eight miles on River Road between Route 3 (Plank Road) and Route 639 (Bragg Road).

Crews will be working 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. from Tuesday, March 21 through Friday, March 24, weather permitting. This week’s work will begin with pavement repairs and patching to the existing road. Crews will return in April to apply new asphalt.

Flaggers and a pilot truck will be used to direct motorists through the work zone, one lane at a time. Message boards will be posted to warn drivers about the work zone.

Motorists should expect delays while crews are working.

River Road carries an average of 3,700 vehicles a day, according to a 2015 Virginia Department of Transportation traffic count.
