As construction nears completion on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and Interstate 95 overpass replacement project in Fredericksburg, motorists may encounter daytime and overnight lane closures in the work zone through late April for milling, paving, pavement marking, and other final tasks.
During the last week of March 2017, lane closures are scheduled, weather permitting, at the following locations:
Interstate 95 Southbound at mile marker 131 (Fall Hill Avenue)
Wednesday, March 29 ˗˗ Thursday, March 30
· Single lane closure at 9:30 p.m.
· Double lane closure at 10 p.m.
· All lanes reopen to traffic by 5 a.m.
Route 1 Northbound, Southbound at Mary Washington Boulevard
Sunday, March 26
· Single lane closure in both directions 10 p.m. ˗˗ 6 a.m.
Monday, March 27 ˗˗ Tuesday, March 28
· Single lane closure in both directions 6 p.m. ˗˗ 6 a.m.
Wednesday, March 29 ˗˗ Thursday, March 30
· Single lane closure on Route 1 northbound only, 6 p.m. ˗˗ 6 a.m.
Fall Hill Avenue from Gordon Shelton Boulevard to Rappahannock Canal
Monday, March 27 − Thursday, March 30
· Intermittent single lane closures 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Friday, March 31
· Intermittent single lane closures 9 a.m. – noon.
Construction began in February 2015 to widen Fall Hill Avenue to four lanes with a raised median from Carl D. Silver Parkway to just west of the bridge over the Rappahannock Canal. The project is also extending Mary Washington Boulevard to connect with Fall Hill Avenue in a roundabout, west of the Rappahannock Canal bridge.
Work is scheduled to be completed by April 20, 2017.
