VDOT hot spots in Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Caroline, and King George for April 16 – 22, 2017. All work has been scheduled weather permitting. Real-time information on work zones and lane closures is available on 511Virginia.org.

City of Fredericksburg
Interstate 95 Northbound
(New) Wednesday, 9 p.m. – 1 a.m. Two lanes will be closed on I-95 northbound at mile marker 131 (Fall Hill Avenue). Crews will installing signs on the northbound side till 1 a.m. then move over to the southbound side.

Interstate 95 Southbound
(New) Wednesday, 1 a.m. ˗˗ 5 a.m. Two lanes will be closed on I-95 southbound at mile marker 131 (Fall Hill Avenue). Crews will be installing signs the southbound side of the new overpass till 5 a.m. All travel lanes will be open to traffic by 5 a.m.

Route 1 at College Avenue
(New) Wednesday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m. Motorists can expect alternating lane closures and brief delays on Route 1 northbound and southbound at College Avenue. Crews will be washing the windows along the pedestrian bridge over Route 1.

Route 1 at Mary Washington Boulevard
(Update) Tuesday, 6 p.m. – 6 a.m Route 1 northbound and southbound will be reduced to a single lane near Alvey Drive and Rappahannock Canal. On Tuesday evening, crews will be moving the traffic signal heads to its final location at the Route 1 and Mary Washington Boulevard intersection. Motorists should expect brief delays and be alert to crews working on the traffic signal at the intersection.

Mary Washington Boulevard at Sam Perry Boulevard (Campus of Mary Washington Hospital)
(New) Monday, 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. Motorists should be alert for a new traffic pattern at the intersection of Mary Washington Boulevard and Sam Perry Boulevard beginning the afternoon of Monday, April 17. Mobile, single lane closures will be in place between noon and 5 p.m. as workers apply final pavement markings on Mary Washington Boulevard between Sam Perry Boulevard and Hospital Drive before opening up all lanes to traffic. Once all lanes are open, traffic on Mary Washington Boulevard will be free-flowing. Traffic entering Mary Washington Boulevard from Sam Perry Boulevard, or turning left onto Sam Perry Boulevard from Mary Washington Boulevard must yield to oncoming traffic.

Fall Hill Avenue
Monday, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. Motorists should expect intermittent single lane closures and flagging operations at intersections as crews install pavement markings on Fall Hill Avenue between Gordon W. Shelton Boulevard and Rappahannock Canal.

Stafford County
Interstate 95 Express Lanes
(New) Tuesday ˗˗ Wednesday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 5 a.m. Motorists should anticipate mobile, single lane closures on the Express Lanes between Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville) and Exit 148 (Quantico) for maintenance work. All lanes will be open by 5 a.m.

Interstate 95 Northbound
Wednesday ˗˗ Thursday, 9:30 a.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m. Interstate 95 northbound will be reduced to two lanes between Exit 140/Courthouse Road and Exit 143/Garrisonville Road. Crews are building foundations needed to install overhead signs connected with the I-95 Express Lanes Southern Terminus Extension project.

Interstate 95 Northbound
Tuesday ˗˗ Thursday, 9:30 a.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ noon. Mobile single lane closures on I-95 northbound between Exit 133/Route 17 and Exit 143/Garrisonville Road. A crew will be collecting soil samples as part of the I-95/Courthouse Road interchange relocation and widening project.

Interstate 95 Southbound
Tuesday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ noon. Mobile single lane closures on I-95 southbound between Exit 133/Route 17 and Exit 143/Garrisonville Road. A crew will be collecting soil samples as part of the I-95/Courthouse Road interchange relocation and widening project.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) at Onville Road
Tuesday – Thursday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Motorists can expect brief delays and single alternating lane closures on Garrisonville Road for paving and final construction activities at the Onville Road intersection. Lane closures will be mobile, and the traffic pattern will shift as work progresses. On Tuesday evening, crews will be installing raised pavement markings. All new turn lanes at the intersection are open.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)
Monday ˗˗ Friday, 7:30 p.m. ˗˗ 5 a.m. Motorists can expect alternating single lane closures overnight on Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) from Shenandoah Lane to Travis Lane. This work is connected to the Stafford County widening of Garrisonville Road.

Routine Maintenance
Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:
Route 218 (White Oak Road) ˗˗ brush removal
Route 607 (Cool Springs Road) ˗˗ pothole patching
Route 608 (Brooke Road) ˗˗ brush removal
Route 630 (Courthouse Road) ˗˗ ditch cleaning operations
Route 1295 (Barnswallow Drive) ˗˗ permanent pavement repairs

Spotsylvania County
Interstate 95 Northbound
(New) Tuesday ˗˗ Wednesday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 5 a.m. The single, left lane and shoulder on Interstate 95 northbound at mile marker 125, right before Exit 126 (Route 1/Massaponnax) will be blocked, as crews take soil samples.

Route 1 and Route 620 (Harrison Road) Intersection
(Update) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays and intermittent, single lane closures on Route 620 (Harrison Road), as construction continues to build new turn lanes and improve the Route 1 and Harrison Road intersection

Route 1 and Route 632 (Hickory Ridge Road)
Wednesday ˗˗ Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Route 1 southbound will be reduced to one lane at the intersection with Route 632 (Hickory Ridge Road), as crews work to improve the intersection. Crews are working to add and extend turn lanes. Expect brief delays.

Crystal Lakes
(Update) Thursday − Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Paving will continue in the Crystal Lakes subdivision. Motorists should be alert for mobile, single lane closures, and for crews and equipment.

Lancaster Gate
(Update) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Milling and paving work will continue in the Lancaster Gate subdivision. Motorists should be alert for mobile, single lane closures, and for crews and equipment.

Routine Maintenance
Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 6 a.m. – noon. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:
Route 627 (Gordon Road) ˗˗ ditch cleaning operations
Route 717 (Holly Drive) ˗˗ pipe repairs and installation
Route 757 (Moss Lane) ˗˗ brush removal

Caroline County
Wednesday, 8 a.m. − 2:30 p.m. Route 301 northbound and southbound reduced to a single lane for ditch cleaning operations.

Routine Maintenance
Monday − Thursday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 6 a.m. – noon. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:
Route 2 (Fredericksburg Turnpike) – ditch cleaning operations
Route 301 (Richmond Turnpike) – debris pickup
Route 607 (Guinea Station Road) ˗˗ brush removal
Route 609 (Rozell Road) – brush removal
Route 622 (Durrett Road) ˗˗ culvert repairs
Route 668 (Long Branch Road) ˗˗ tree removal operations
Route 769 (Stonewall Lane) ˗˗ pipe repairs/installation, ditch cleaning operations

Caroline County/King George County
Route 301 at Rappahannock River
Thursday and Friday, 6:30 a.m. ˗˗6:30 p.m. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane on Route 301 northbound and southbound from Water Street to Walsingham Road near the bridge over the Rappahannock River for work related to the bridge rehabilitation project. Expect brief delays on the bridge and at the bridge approaches.

King George County
Route 694 (Lambs Creek Road)
(Update) Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Traffic will be reduced to one lane for paving operation which includes placing shoulder stone between Igo Road and Caledon Road. Motorists should follow direction to the flagging crew. Expect brief delays.
