VDOT hot spots in Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Caroline, and King George for April 23 – 29, 2017. All work has been scheduled weather permitting. Real-time information on work zones and lane closures is available on 511Virginia.org.

City of Fredericksburg
Interstate 95 Northbound and Southbound at Fall Hill Avenue Overpass (mile marker 131)
(New) Tuesday − Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Lane closures for installation of overhead signs at the bridge. Double lane closure on I-95 northbound between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. Double lane closure on I-95 southbound from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Mary Washington Boulevard at Fall Hill Avenue Roundabout
(New) Motorists are reminded that the new section of Mary Washington Boulevard that intersects with Fall Hill Avenue in a roundabout is now open to traffic. Through traffic on Mary Washington Boulevard is now free flowing, which means Mary Washington Boulevard traffic will not stop at the Sam Perry Boulevard and Hospital Drive intersections. Be alert to the new traffic patterns in this area.

Fall Hill Avenue
Monday, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. Motorists should expect intermittent single lane closures and flagging operations at intersections as crews install pavement markings on Fall Hill Avenue between Gordon W. Shelton Boulevard and Rappahannock Canal.

Stafford County
Interstate 95 Northbound
Monday ˗˗ Thursday 9:30 a.m. ˗ 3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. Interstate 95 northbound will be reduced to two lanes between Exit 140/Courthouse Road and Exit 143/Garrisonville Road while crews will continue building foundations needed to install overhead signs connected with the I-95 Express Lanes Southern Terminus Extension project.

Interstate 95 Northbound and Southbound
This week crews will continue collecting soil samples as part of the I-95/Courthouse Road interchange relocation and widening project. I-95 motorists should expect a single lane closure and brief delays between Exit 136/Centreport Parkway and Exit 143/Garrisonville Road on the following days:
· Northbound: Tuesday ˗˗ Thursday, 9:30 a.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ noon
· Southbound: Tuesday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ noon

Interstate 95 Northbound
Wednesday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. Motorists will be restricted to one lane on I-95 northbound at Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth). Crews will be repairing the deck on the I-95 bridge over Route 17.

Route 3 (Kings Highway)
(New) Tuesday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The right turn lane from Route 3 eastbound to Route 606 will be closed for utility work. Motorists should use the most convenient alternate route.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) at Onville Road
Sunday – Thursday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Motorists can expect brief delays and single alternating lane closures on Garrisonville Road for paving and final construction activities at the Onville Road intersection. Lane closures will be mobile, and the traffic pattern will shift as work progresses. On Tuesday evening, crews will be installing raised pavement markings. All new turn lanes at the intersection are open.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)
Monday ˗˗ Friday, 7:30 p.m. ˗˗ 5 a.m. Motorists can expect alternating single lane closures overnight on Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) from Shenandoah Lane to Travis Lane. This work is connected to the Stafford County widening of Garrisonville Road.

Routine Maintenance
Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:
Route 602 (Chapel Green Road) ˗˗ brush removal
Route 602 (Sandy Ridge Road) ˗˗ brush removal
Route 628 (Ramoth Church Road) ˗˗ brush removal
Route 644 (Rockhill Church Road) ˗˗ pothole patching
Route 728 (Flippo Road) ˗˗ ditch cleaning operations

Spotsylvania County
Interstate 95 Northbound
(New) Monday ˗˗ Thursday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 5 a.m. The single, left lane and shoulder on Interstate 95 northbound at mile marker 125, right before Exit 126 (Route 1/Massaponnax) will be blocked, as crews take soil samples.

Route 3
(New) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be milling the pavement on Route 3 from the Spotsylvania County line to Route 640 (Black Meadow Road). Motorists should expect alternating lane closures in this area.

Route 1 Southbound
(New) Wednesday, 2 a.m. – 2 p.m. The right turn lane and right through lane of Route 1 southbound at the Harrison Road intersection will share a lane for approximately 12 hours as construction crews prepare to build a new continuous right turn lane. The dedicated right turn lane is expected to be restored in time for evening rush hour.

Route 620 (Harrison Road)
(New) Wednesday, 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. Westbound Route 620 (Harrison Road) traffic, west of Route 1, will be shifted slightly left onto new pavement around 1 p.m. Wednesday. Drivers can expect brief traffic stops over a 30-minute period as westbound traffic is transitioned onto new pavement.

Route 1 and Route 620 (Harrison Road) Intersection
Monday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays and intermittent, single lane closures on Route 620 (Harrison Road), as construction continues to build new turn lanes and improve the Route 1 and Harrison Road intersection

Route 1 and Route 632 (Hickory Ridge Road)
Monday ˗˗ Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Route 1 southbound will be reduced to one lane at the intersection with Route 632 (Hickory Ridge Road), as crews work to improve the intersection. Crews are working to add and extend turn lanes. Expect brief delays.

Lancaster Gate
Wednesday ˗˗ Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Milling and paving work will continue in the Lancaster Gate subdivision. Motorists should be alert for mobile, single lane closures, and for crews and equipment.

Routine Maintenance
Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:
Route 208 (Courthouse Road) ˗˗ ditch cleaning operations

Caroline County/King George County
Route 301 at Rappahannock River
Friday, 6:30 a.m. ˗˗6:30 p.m. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane on Route 301 northbound and southbound from Water Street to Walsingham Road near the bridge over the Rappahannock River for work related to the bridge rehabilitation project. Expect brief delays on the bridge and at the bridge approaches.

King George County
Route 623
(New) Monday – Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. motorists will experience alternating lane closures on Route 623 from just east of Route 301 to just east of Route 650 (Welcome Road). Crews will be patching in this area.
