From Germanna Community College
A crowd of 100 looked on as Germanna Community College dedicated the courtyard of its Fredericksburg Area Campus to the late Rick Brehm Tuesday afternoon. For 18 years he served as Germanna’s Vice President for Administrative Services. He passed away in July after a four-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Family unveiled a large granite rock pulled from the Rapidan River by men who had worked for Brehm at Germanna. There is a plaque noting that he was largely responsible for the construction of much of the campus.
Friends remembered him as a self sacrificing man who loved his family and never stopped helping others, even as the end neared. They recalled an indispensable, but modest, man with a good sense of humor.
