Hickory Ridge Road in Spotsylvania closed May 1-5

FREDERICKSBURG – Next week, Route 632 (Hickory Ridge Road) in Spotsylvania County will be closed to through traffic between Route 1 and Route 608 (Massaponax Church Road) to allow crews to install two culvert pipes underneath the road.

Through traffic will not be permitted to travel on this section of Hickory Ridge Road from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, May 1 through Friday, May 5.

All lanes on Route 1 will remain open during the work zone.

Residents living on the closed portion of Hickory Ridge Road will be permitted to enter the work zone to access their homes and driveways.

Signs will be posted to direct motorists to use Route 608 (Massaponax Church Road) as the recommended detour route.

Message boards will be posted today on Route 1, Hickory Ridge Road and Massaponax Church Road to notify drivers of the upcoming work and detour.

 Crews are installing two culvert pipes as part of the construction project underway to build new turn lanes and improve the Route 1 and Hickory Ridge Road intersection.

The $2 million project seeks to reduce crashes and improve traffic flow.

Construction is expected to be complete by July 11, 2017.
