Bill Reese at Picker’s Supply

If you’re a fan of music or musical instruments (even if you can only pick out three chords), it’s worth looking into Picker’s Supply on Caroline Street. They’ve got a huge selection of vintage instruments–the kinds of guitars you’re not going to find at a random music store. Manager Matt Montoro told me that they get requests from all over the country for their instruments, and they’ve even started making YouTube videos of some of the “oldies” so people can hear them play. (Check out their YouTube channel here)

On the way out, we talked to Bill Reese. Bill told me he plays the Irish bouzouki. Bill is a modest guy–we looked him up online and found out he plays old time & minstrel banjo, mandolin, tin whistle, Welsh pibgorn, and bombarde as well. He’s also written books about the highland pipes and the banjo.
