Triplets Russ, Nick and Paul Pierce of Stafford joined Fredericksburg’s Chip Maurer to earn their Eagle Scout awards Sunday.

The four Scouts were among six who started Cub Scout Pack 170 at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church in 2006. They went on to join Troop 170 at the church.

The group of Scouts also marked the 100th Eagle Scout to come from Troop 170. The first Eagle from the troop was Waldo Beck in 1939.

Maurer, the son of Dr. Charles Maurer and Stephanie Maurer, is a student at James Monroe High School.

The Pierces are the sons of Roger and Sheri Pierce. They attend Brooke Point High School.

Eagle Scout is the highest award available in Boy Scouts. Scouts must earn 21 merit badges, take leadership roles in the troop, and plan and execute a community service project to earn the award.

Chip Maurer built amphitheater infrastructure for the Hartwood Christian Center field site as his Eagle project. Maurer is also a competitive fencer, a tuba player in the JM Symphonic Band and a singer on the Monroe Singers.

Nick Pierce repaired the drainage system for the boys’ baseball dugout at Brooke Point High School. He is a varsity football player and wrestler, a National Honor Society member and works as a cook at Bojangles and an usher at Jiffy Lube Live.

Paul Pierce built a shed for the Brooke Point High School golf team. He is a varsity football player and has competed in the National High School Wrestling Dual Championships. He also works as a cook at Bojangles and an usher at Jiffy Lube Live.

Russ Pierce built storage cubicles in the Brooke Point High School girls softball team dugouts. He was named to the 2016 First Team Conference 15 Football Team and has one two 5A Virginia State Wrestling Championships. He, too, works as a cook at Bojangles and an usher at Jiffy Lube Live.

All four Scouts have also been named to the American Legion Boys State.
