From VDOT

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will continue the pavement project on Route 618 (River Road) in Spotsylvania County beginning Monday, June 5 through Friday, June 16.

Crews will first mill then apply new asphalt to approximately eight miles of River Road between Route 3 (Plank Road) and Route 639 (Bragg Road). Paving will begin near Route 3 and move east toward Bragg Road.

Crews will work Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., weather permitting.

Flaggers and a pilot truck will be used to direct motorists through the work zone, which will alternate one-way traffic.

Motorists should expect delays up to an estimated 15 minutes. Drivers may also encounter rough, uneven pavement at times during the project.

Through traffic is encouraged to use Route 3 as alternate route.

Message boards have been posted along River Road warning drivers about the upcoming work zone.

River Road carries an average of 3,700 vehicles a day, according to a 2016 Virginia Department of Transportation traffic count.
