From National Park Service

On the evening of June 16, 2017, the National Park Service will close North Lee Drive to vehicular traffic from approximately 6 p.m. until about 10 p.m.  This closure will help ensure the safe movement of visitors to the park’s first History at Sunset program that evening.

Commencing at 6 p.m., only vehicles attending the History at Sunset program will be permitted to access North Lee Drive. Parking for the event will be at the north end of the Drive, near tour stop #3–for Lee’s headquarters on Lee’s Hill.

Traffic control devices will be placed near Pickett Circle, Lloyd Lane, Cedar Lane, and at Lafayette Boulevard.

Travelers not attending the History at Sunset program are advised to plan for alternate routes to reach their destination.

The program will begin at 7 p.m. and will traverse North Lee Drive from Lee’s Hill to historic Braehead and Howison Hill.  Visitors attending the program are asked to arrive by 6:50 to allow time for parking and assembling the group.

History at Sunset has become a tradition in the local area.  Now in its 15th year, the series has attracted nearly 18,000 visitors to 154 programs over the years.
