On August 22, 2017 at approximately 10 P.M., Stafford County Deputies responded to a report of a pedestrian struck just south of Boswell’s Corner on Route 1. The victim was transported to Mary Washington Hospital by Stafford Fire and Rescue. Units were advised about an hour later by hospital personnel that Mr. Lamont Williams, forty-four years old from Dumfries VA, had passed away from injuries sustained from the accident.

Investigation revealed that Mr. Williams and his fiancé had returned a rental truck to a business near the accident scene. Prior to leaving, he took some trash from the truck and walked across Route 1 to deposit it in a dumpster. When crossing back, he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound.

The driver of the striking vehicle told deputies he was driving home from work when the accident occurred. He did not see the pedestrian but heard the impact and stopped immediately. He then discovered he had struck a pedestrian and called 911.

The Stafford County Accident Investigation Team is continuing the investigation of the accident. There is no indication at this time that the driver of the vehicle was impaired or speeding. The case has been referred to the State Medical Examiner’s Office.
