From Downtown Greens

The Countdown has officially begun for Downtown Greens’ 21st annual Down Home Ball. Fredericksburg’s “elegant hoedown” will be held this year on Saturday, October 14th, from 6pm-11:00pm at Roxbury Farm and Garden Center, 601 Lafayette Boulevard.

Bump into old friends and groove to the music all through the crisp autumn evening while enjoying delicious hors d’oeuvres from some of Fredericksburg’s favorite restaurants. Live music will include Harry Wilson with his band as well as Infusion, which will be making its Fredericksburg debut at the Down Home Ball, performing funk, soul and R&B classics. Rounding out the evening will be DJ OneDrop of Boom Street Rockers Radio. We welcome people of all ages to our event, and will offer children’s activities for the youngsters. A cash bar with wine and locally brewed beer (provided by Spencer Devon Brewing) will be available to compliment the night of fun.

Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door and $15 for students with ID. Children are free. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Roxbury Farm and Garden Center, Riverby Books and LibertyTown Arts Workshop. Event sponsorships are still available for businesses and individuals. Contact [email protected] for more information about sponsorship levels and benefits.

The Down Home Ball raises funds to continue efforts to nurture and grow a beautiful and accessible local greenspace and to provide important community programs like weekly Garden Hours, Youth Garden Club, Marenje Marimba, Urban Beekeeping, Eco Workshops and The Herbal Arts Collective. The Youth Farm Program, our newest addition for 9-11 year olds, teaches the participants about growing their own food and connects them to the natural world. It also provides a safe space to grow skills of entrepreneurship, teamwork, communication and responsibility.

Downtown Greens is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization providing organic green space open to the public, environmental stewardship, and adult and youth-based programs in downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia.
