Multiple work zones on I-95 this week

Motorists should anticipate overnight travel delays and double lane closures on Interstate 95 northbound and southbound this week in Stafford and Spotsylvania counties through early Saturday, Sept. 23.

The following lane closures are planned, weather permitting:

Monday, Sept. 18 ˗˗ Friday, Sept. 22 (ending at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23)

I-95 SOUTHBOUND:

· Exit 140 (Courthouse Road) Stafford County
o Monday
§ A single lane will be closed at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. All lanes will open by 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19 for a milling and paving operation as part of the project to reconfigure the interchange to a diverging diamond.

o Wednesday
§ Single left lane at 9 p.m. till 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21 to allow crews to install concrete barrier as part of the same project.

· Potomac Creek Bridge (mile marker 137)
o Tuesday – Wednesday
§ A single lane will close at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. at the Potomac Creek bridge. The bridge is located at mile marker 137, just before Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway). Crews will begin a bridge improvement project. Double lane closures will end at 4:30 a.m. each morning. A single lane will remain close at the bridge till 10 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

o Thursday
§ A single lane will close at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. Double lane closures will end at 4:30 a.m. A single lane will remain close at the bridge till 6 a.m. Friday.

· Truslow Road Bridge (mile marker 134)
o Tuesday – Thursday
§ Expect a single lane to be closed on I-95 southbound at the Truslow Road bridge for repairs at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. The Truslow Road bridge is located at mile marker 134, south of Exit 136/Centreport Parkway. Double lane closures will end at 4:30 a.m. A single lane will remain close till 10 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.

· Exit 133 (Falmouth)
o Monday
§ A single lane will close at 9 p.m. near the Exit 133 interchange followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. to allow crews to make repairs to the I-95 southbound bridge over Route 17. Double lane closures will end at 4:30 a.m. A single lane will remain close till 7 a.m. Tuesday.

· Exit 130 (Route 3/Fredericksburg)
o Thursday ˗˗ Friday
§ The Exit 130 off-ramp will be reduced to a single lane from I-95 southbound to westbound Route 3 at Carl D. Silver Parkway for storm sewer installation, as part of the I-95 interchange safety improvement project. All lanes will reopen on Friday at 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Saturday.

· Ni River Bridge (mile marker 121) Spotsylvania County
o Monday ˗˗ Thursday
§ A single lane will close at 9 p.m. at the Ni River bridge followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. Double lane closures end at 4:30 a.m. A single lane will remain closed until 10 a.m. as crews continue a bridge improvement project. The Ni River bridge is located at mile marker 121, just south of Exit 126/Massaponax. On Friday,
o Friday
§ A single lane will close at 10 p.m. at the Ni River Bridge and double lane closure at midnight till 4:30 a.m. A single lane will close until 6 a.m. Saturday.

I-95 NORTHBOUND:

· Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville Road)
o Tuesday – Thursday
§ A single, left lane on I-95 northbound will be closed near Exit 143 beginning at 9:30 a.m. to allow crews to work on overhead signage as part of the Southern Terminus extension of the Express Lanes. All lanes will reopen by 3:30 p.m.

· Exit 140 (Courthouse Road)
o Tuesday
§ A single lane will close at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. near the Exit 140 interchange for milling and paving as part of the project to reconfigure the interchange to a diverging diamond. All lanes will open by 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

o Wednesday – Thursday
§ A single, left lane will be closed near the interchange to install concrete barrier as part of the same project. All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m. Friday.

· Potomac Creek Bridge (mile marker 137)
o Friday
§ A single lane will close at 9 p.m. at the Potomac Creek Bridge, which is located at mile marker 137, north of Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) as crews begin a bridge improvement project. Double lane closures will begin at 10 p.m. All lanes will be open by 4:30 a.m. Saturday.

· Truslow Road Bridge (mile marker 134)
o Thursday
§ Expect a single lane closure at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. on I-95 northbound at the Truslow Road bridge for repairs. The Truslow Road bridge is located at mile marker 134, north of Exit 133/Route 17. All lanes will reopen to traffic by 4:30 a.m Friday.

· Ni River Bridge (mile marker 121)
o Monday ˗˗ Thursday
§ A single lane will close at 9 p.m. at the Ni River bridge followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. Double lane closures end at 4:30 a.m. A single lane will remain closed until 10 a.m. as crews continue a bridge improvement project. The Ni River bridge is located at mile marker 121, just south of Exit 126/Massaponax. On Friday,

§ A single lane will close at 10 p.m. at the Ni River Bridge and double lane closure at midnight till 4:30 a.m. All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m. Saturday.

Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control and monitor traffic conditions with all the work zones.

Message boards will warn travelers to stay alert for the work zones ahead and possible delays.

Drivers may use Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) as an alternate route.
