I-95 Express Lane extension set to open early

by | Oct 26, 2017 | Traffic, Uncategorized

The two-mile extension at the southern end of the 95 Express Lanes is scheduled to open on October 31, weather permitting.

The extension adds nearly one mile of additional capacity to the current merge area at the southern end, as well as a single lane extension for an additional mile.

Express Lanes drivers will see the following changes in this area:

Southbound drivers exiting to Garrisonville Road and drivers continuing to the end of the Express Lanes each have a dedicated travel lane. The new southbound ramp is scheduled to open the afternoon of October 31.
Northbound drivers have a new left lane entry from northbound regular lanes located south of Route 610 (Garrisonville Road). The new northbound ramp is scheduled to open the morning of November 1.
The extension will operate under the same rules and reversal schedule as the current 95 Express Lanes. All drivers need an E-ZPass to use the Express Lanes. Carpools need an E-ZPass Flex and three or more people in the car to travel toll-free.
