Following our 2017 annual investors meeting on Wednesday, October 25th, the Fredericksburg Regional Alliance at the University of Mary Washington is delighted to announce the election of new officers and appointment of a new member to our Board of Directors.
Linda Worrell (Silver Companies and Chief Operating Officer, SIEHT) has been named Chair of the Board, succeeding former Chair and current Board member Kent Farmer (President and CEO, Rappahannock Electric Cooperative).
Lloyd Harrison (President and CEO, Virginia Partners Bank) has been elected Vice Chair of the Board, Charlie Payne, Jr. (Partner, Hirschler Fleischer) has been appointed Treasurer of the Board and Dr. Troy Paino (President, University of Mary Washington) has been appointed Secretary.
In addition to our new Board officers, the Alliance investors voted to reappoint Ms. Worrell and Mr. Farmer to new three-year terms on the Board and voted to appoint a new member, Pete Humes (Senior Vice President and Manager of Commercial Banking, Union Bank and Trust), to the Board of Directors.
During the annual meeting, held at the Jepson Alumni Executive Center, Curry Roberts, President of Fredericksburg Regional Alliance, presented the organization’s marketing metrics, prior year return on investment and the evolving nature of the FRA’s role in economic development. Following Mr. Roberts’ remarks, keynote speaker Stephen Moret, President and CEO of Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP), reviewed VEDP’s past year goals and accomplishments and the future goals he has for economic development for the Commonwealth. Mr. Moret then answered questions on how VEDP can expand its assistance to the Fredericksburg Region.
