During November, special events at Central Rappahannock Regional Library (CRRL) will highlight resources for writers.

Writers Conference

CRRL presents a Writers Conference, a day celebrating writers with informational, hands-on workshops, a panel discussion, and a reception for all local authors or authors-to-be, at Porter Branch, on Saturday, November 11, 9:15 a.m.-5 p.m.

Call Porter Branch at 540-659-4909 to sign up in advance, or register on site 9:15-11:00. Attend one or all sessions.

Workshops – 9:45 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Workshops are held simultaneously.

11:00-12:00 Review and feedback of your first 500 words
Panel Discussion: “Publishing vs. Self-Publishing” – 1:30-3:00 p.m.
Moderated by Linda White and featuring local authors Jim Hall, E.H. Kindred, Mary Maki, and Steve Watkins

Local Author Reception – 3:00-5:00 p.m.
Books available for sale and book signing. Published local authors, call 540-659-4909 to reserve space! Refreshments will be served.

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo)

NaNoWriMo is an annual Internet-based creative writing project challenging participants to write 50,000 words of a new novel, and CRRL is supporting participants with the following events:

NaNoWriMo Kicks Off
Fredericksburg Branch, Friday, November 3, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Meet fellow writers at a party to kick off National Novel Writing Month. Join us for ideas, activities, and resources to help you succeed at writing your novel.

NaNoWriMo: Come Write In
Come write your novel during National Novel Writing Month. We’ll have some hints, tips, and tricks for beating writer’s block.
Porter Branch, Tuesdays and Thursdays in November, except November 23, 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Salem Church Branch, Tuesdays and Thursdays in November, except November 23, 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

NaNoWriMo Wrap-Up Party
Salem Church Branch, Saturday, December 2, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
Whether you completed your novel or are well on your way, you deserve to celebrate. Share some of your best pieces or just listen to other writers’ work. Join us for a wrap-up to a great month of writing!
