Spotsylvania detectives arrest man in home invasion

On 12/17/17, deputies responded to a report of a home invasion robbery in the 700 block of Salem Drive in the Waverly Village subdivision. The home owners reported that an unknown black male forced his way into the home while displaying a firearm. During the robbery, the female homeowner was physically assaulted after trying to call 911 from her cell phone. Both male and female homeowners were held at gunpoint while an undisclosed amount of money, jewelry and medication was taken. The suspect left on foot and was seen getting into a vehicle down the street. Neighbors were able to provide deputies with a description of the suspect and the vehicle including a tag number. Detectives were able to determine who the vehicle was registered to and executed a search warrant at the homeowners residence. The vehicle was found hidden on the property along with evidence of the robbery.

Thirty year old Lamont K. Doss of Spotsylvania was arrested and charged with grand larceny (2 counts), breaking and entering with a deadly weapon with the intent to commit robbery (2 counts), robbery (2 counts), assault and battery, and use of a firearm while committing a felony. He was also wanted at the time on a capias through Spotsylvania County on failure to appear for driving suspended. Doss is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
