Interstate 95 (Exit 140/Courthouse Road)

Work is underway on a project to improve the I-95 interchange at Exit 140 (Route 630/Courthouse Road). The project includes building a diverging diamond interchange at Exit 140, relocating the Courthouse Road and Route 1 intersection to the south to align with Hospital Center Boulevard, and widening Courthouse Road to four lanes from Cedar Lane to Ramoth Church Road.

I-95 Northbound

(New) Monday – Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. One lane will be closed on I-95 northbound between mile marker 139.8 and mile marker 141.6 near Exit 140/Courthouse Road. Crews will be setting a construction barrier and an impact attenuator in this area.

Route 630 (Courthouse Road)

(Update) Tuesday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗ 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Courthouse Road between Cedar Lane and Walpole Street for grading and pipe work as part of the widening project. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Winding Creek Road

(Update) Thursday,  9 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Winding Creek Road for grading and pipe work as part of the widening project. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays.

 

Interstate 95 Bridge Rehabilitation Project

Work is underway to improve the deck and substructure on several bridges located on I-95 in Stafford and Spotsylvania.

Stafford County: I-95 Bridge over Potomac Creek at mile marker 137

The I-95 bridges over Potomac Creek are located just before Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) at mile marker 137.

  • I-95 Southbound:  Monday – Friday, 9 p.m. ˗ 10 a.m. Expect alternating, single and double lanes closures. Double lane closures will only take place after 10 p.m. each night
  • I-95 Northbound:  Tuesday – Thursday, 9:30 a.m. ˗ 3:30 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures

 

Interstate 95 Exit 130/Route 3/Fredericksburg Interchange Improvement Project

Construction is underway to improve safety on Interstate 95 and Route 3 at the Exit 130 interchange in Fredericksburg. Motorists should be prepared for the following lane closures, construction activity, and temporary traffic shifts on Route 3, I-95 at Exit 130 and/or Central Park shopping area.

Route 3 Westbound

(New) Sunday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m. The right lane and shoulder will be closed overnight on Route 3 westbound near the Route 3/I-95 Interchange at Exit 130 for storm sewer installation. All lanes will be open to traffic by 10 a.m. each day through Friday morning. There will be no lane closures on Friday after 10 a.m.

I-95 Ramps at Exit 130

(New) Utility installation will narrow the travel lane and close the shoulder on the I-95 ramps from Route 3 westbound at Exit 130 on the following days this week:

  • Monday – Wednesday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m. The ramp to I-95 southbound from Route 3 westbound will be narrowed and the shoulder will be closed on the ramp. The ramp will remain open to traffic at all times.
  • Tuesday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 4: 30 a.m. The ramp to I-95 northbound from Route 3 westbound will be narrowed and the shoulder will be closed on the ramp. The ramp will remain open to traffic at all times.

Interstate 95 at Exit 118/Mudd Tavern Road Widening and Bridge Replacement Project

Crews are working to improve the interchange on Interstate 95 at Exit 118 (Mudd Tavern Road). The project will build a new I-95 overpass and improve on and off-ramps on Mudd Tavern Road, improve Mudd Tavern Road east of I-95, and Mallard Road.

Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road)

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays on Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road near the Exit 118 interchange for ongoing construction activity. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone.

Spotsylvania County Work Zone

Interstate 95 Southbound at Exit 126/Massaponax

(Update) Monday ˗ Thursday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 6 a.m. A single lane on I-95 southbound at Exit 126/Massaponax will close at 9 p.m. to allow crews to continue repair work on the bridge over Route 1 followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. Double lane closures will end at 4:30 a.m. each day. A single lane will remain closed until 6 a.m. each day. Expect overnight delays.

King George County Work Zone

Route 3

(New) Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Route 3 eastbound and westbound from Route 301 to the Westmoreland County line. Crews will be installing and replacing reflective in this area. This is a mobile operation.

King and Queen County Work Zone

Route 608 (Clancie Road)

Tuesday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. ˗ 4 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 608 (Clancie Road) near Lake Pond Road for guardrail repair. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays.

 

Lancaster County/Middlesex County Work Zone

Route 3 and Robert O. Norris Bridge

Temporary traffic signals are installed at the center spans of the Norris Bridge on Route 3 between Lancaster and Middlesex counties. Two temporary signals control one-way, alternating traffic at the bridge’s center spans 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Crews are using the closed lane to paint the center spans of the bridge over the Rappahannock River. The signals will remain in place until the end of the painting project in June 2018.

 

Mathews County Work Zone

Main Street and Church Street

Monday ˗˗ Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗ 4:30 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Main Street and Church Street near Route 14 for utility work. Expect brief delays.

Richmond County Work Zone 

Route 360

Tuesday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. ˗ 4 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 360 eastbound and westbound near Route 624 (Newland Road) for guardrail repair. Expect brief delays.
