Stafford County Public Schools is pleased to recognize Ferry Farm Elementary School teacher Heidi Sloan for being selected as the 20th Iditarod Teacher on the Trail.
Students and faculty at Ferry Farm Elementary are sending Mrs. Sloan off in style by holding a parade in the school to wish her luck. The parade is at 12:40p.m., February 14, 2018. The Teacher on the Trail program provides an opportunity for one selected educator each year to teach beyond the traditional classroom walls via internet and participate in a project that reaches students in the United States and around the world, focusing on literacy, core curriculum, life skills, and technology.
Mrs. Sloan was selected from thousands of applicants and is traveling to join the musher and the sled dogs along the southern trail in Alaska on February 19, 2018. After six weeks in Alaska, Mrs. Sloan will return to share her knowledge with classrooms around the world.
