Spotsylvania, Stafford investigating social media threats

Deputies and Detectives from both Stafford County and Spotyslvania County, have been working around the clock to identify the origin of a post that surfaced on Saturday, February 17th. The post, which depicted a picture of a firearm is believed to be a generic photo sourced from an online site and edited to add text content. The two jurisdictions are working to locate the creator of the post and have collectively interviewed numerous people who have either viewed/shared the post.

At this point there are no further threats that have been identified. Stafford and Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Offices will have an increased law enforcement presence at the schools in their jurisdiction over the next few days. This investigation is ongoing and additional updates will follow.
