Man dies in four-car crash in Caroline

On Wednesday (March 14, 2018), at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Virginia State Police responded to a four-vehicle crash with a fatality on Route 639 (Ladysmith Road), .25 miles west of Bridlewood Lane, in Caroline County.

The Trooper’s preliminary investigation revealed that a 2000 Toyota Tacoma driven by Thomas O. Blair, 63, of Ruther Glen, Va., was traveling westbound on Ladysmith Road and crossed over the center line striking a 2008 GMC Yukon driven by Charlene N. Morris, of Ruther Glen, Va., head on. A 2003 Chevrolet Astro van struck Blair in the rear and then a 2013 Hyundai Elantra struck Morris in the rear.

Morris and a passenger were transported to hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Blair was transported to Mary Washington Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. There were no other injuries reported.

The crash remains under investigation.
