CIP Finishes plans new Stafford County headquarters

by | Mar 28, 2018 | Business

Stafford-based construction firm Closet Interiors Plus has been rebranded and now known as CIP Finishes.

Founder and President Paul Milde announced the new name as his company celebrates its 30th year in business as an installer of commercial finishing hardware in large multi-family and commercial construction projects throughout the Greater Washington, D.C., region.

Milde also announced plans to build a new company headquarters on a 3.5-acre site recently purchased on Centreport Parkway near Stafford Regional Airport.

“We chose the new site in Stafford County because of Stafford’s business-friendly environment and also its great access to Interstate 95,” Milde said.

Milde started Closet Interiors in 1988 as a custom closet installer that worked primarily in single-family residences. The company evolved to become Closet Interiors Plus in the early 1990s, as it expanded to take on an increasing array of interior hardware in large multi-family residential communities. Today, the company provides more than 15 full-time jobs and employs dozens of subcontractors on its various job sites.

“We essentially take these units from being blank boxes to functional spaces where people can live and work,” Milde said. “We’ve come a long way from building closets, and it was time for a new name that more accurately reflects who we are. It’s been exciting to be a part of some really high-quality residential communities.”

CIP Finishes has installed finishing hardware and amenities—everything from wire shelving to interior door hardware to bike racks—in hundreds of apartment complexes from Richmond to Baltimore, and in projects as far afield as St. Louis. Notable local communities the company has worked on include Cobblestone Square in downtown Fredericksburg and the Eagle Village apartments at the University of Mary Washington. CIP Finishes has worked on high-profile residential communities in the greater Washington region, including Reston Town Center and City Center DC. The company is currently working on Washington, D.C.’s first boutique-style micro hotel, The Moxy.
