Police seek man in assault

The Fredericksburg Police Department is requesting public assistance in locating a suspect in an aggravated assault that occurred yesterday leaving one victim with broken bones and requiring hospitalization. James Leon Brown, 37, of no fixed address is wanted on a charge of felonious assault and two charges of assault and battery on a family member.

The Fredericksburg E-911 Communications Center received a call yesterday morning (Sunday, April 1st) at approximately 8:15 a.m. that an adult female had been assaulted in her apartment located in the 1000 block of Heritage Park Drive. Patrol officers responded and, upon locating the adult female victim, determined she needed medical treatment. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition. Patrol officers also located a juvenile victim who required medical attention for non-life threatening injuries. The juvenile was released from the hospital the same day.

James Brown is described as approximately 5’10” with black hair and brown eyes.
