A crew of volunteers paddled the canal running through Fredericksburg Sunday to pick up trash.
Organized by Kevin Brown, who curates a Facebook page called On the Fredericksburg Va Trails, 6 people in three canoes pulled 16 bags of trash from the canal.
Most river cleanups in the area focus on the Rappahannock itself, but the 1800s-era canal accumulates trash from walkers on the Heritage trail as well as surrounding neighborhoods.
