The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close Route 614 (Dickerson Road) near Northeast Creek in Spotsylvania County May 3 for an emergency pipe repair.
Beginning at 6 a.m. on Thursday, Dickerson Road will be closed to through traffic between Edenton Road and Lewiston Road. Crews will remove a deteriorated corrugated metal pipe from underneath the road and install a new 60 inch plastic pipe.
Crews will work May 3 at 6 a.m. and will reopen the road by noon on Friday, May 4.
A detour will be in place, while work is underway.
Signs will be posted along the recommended detour route, which is approximately three miles:
From Route 657 (Edenton Road):
- Route 614 (Dickerson Road)
- Route 738 (Partlow Road)
From Route 601 (Lewiston Road):
- Go straight on Lewiston Road to Route 208 (Courthouse Road)
According to a 2017 traffic count, Dickerson Road carries an average of 500 vehicles a day.
