Spotsylvania Business Appreciation Week May 7 – 11

Spotsylvania’s Department of Economic Development & Tourism will host the county’s second annual Business Appreciation Week May 7 – 11, 2018, on behalf of the Board of Supervisors. Events this year will focus on workforce resources for Spotsylvania businesses and will coincide with the International Economic Development Council’s National Economic Development Week and Virginia Business Appreciation Month.

This year’s event will honor Spotsylvania County businesses with free events highlighting available workforce services. Last year’s Business Appreciation Week won the Award of Excellent in the events category of the Southern Economic Development Council’s 2017 Communications Awards.

Monday, May 7, 3-4 p.m. at Salem Church Library: Spotsylvania County Public Schools (SCPS) Assistant Superintendent of Instruction, Carol Flenard, Executive Director of Secondary Education and Leadership, Keith Wolfe, and Director of Communications & Community Engagement, René Daniels will provide an overview of the curriculum and share how it is changing to meet workforce needs. They will also speak about how SCPS and businesses are helping to prepare tomorrow’s workforce with the skills to succeed in the workplace.

Tuesday, May 8, 8-10 a.m. at Comfort Suites Fredericksburg South: The Fredericksburg Area Workforce Center Business Services Team will be on hand to talk about workforce-related solutions they can offer Spotsylvania businesses. The team is made up of representatives from various workforce specialist organizations in the region and can provide support to businesses of all sizes.

Wednesday, May 9, 8-10:30 a.m. at Germanna Community College’s Sealy Auditorium, Fredericksburg Campus Workforce Building: “Relevant and Real Time Ways to Grow Your Business” event, hosted by Germanna Community College, will feature local business owners and marketing experts speaking on their best practices, as well as tips and tricks for marketing and promoting your business in 2018.

Thursday, May 10, 8:30-11 a.m. at Stevenson Ridge: In appreciation to all of the businesses that call Spotsylvania home, the county will again host a Business Appreciation Breakfast. This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Janet Gullickson, President of Germanna Community College. Attendees will also hear from Spotsylvania officials about the state of business in the county. Attendance is limited to 2 representatives per business and pre-registration is required. Please register at www.spotsybizweek.com
