Interstate 95 at Exit 118/Mudd Tavern Road Widening and Bridge Replacement Project
Crews are working to improve the interchange on Interstate 95 at Exit 118 (Mudd Tavern Road). The project will build a new I-95 overpass and improve on and off-ramps on Mudd Tavern Road, improve Mudd Tavern Road east of I-95, and Mallard Road.
Bridge forms and deck overhangs will be installed each evening on June 27-28. Double lane closures are scheduled at night, with full traffic stops between midnight and 5 a.m. I-95 travelers are encouraged to use Route 1 or Route 301 to avoid delays on these evenings.
Interstate 95 Northbound
(New) Wednesday – Thursday, 9:30 p.m. – 5 a.m. Two lanes will close at 9:30 p.m.
Between midnight and 5 a.m., all northbound traffic will be detoured to the Exit 118 off-ramp, directed across Mudd Tavern Road and guided back to the interstate. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Friday.
Interstate 95 Southbound
(New) Thursday – Friday, 9:30 p.m. – 5 a.m. Two lanes will close at 9:30 p.m.
Between midnight and 5 a.m., all southbound traffic will be detoured to the Exit 118 off-ramp, directed across Mudd Tavern Road and guided back to the interstate. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Thursday.
Message boards on I-95 will provide advance notice of lane closures and detour routes. Traffic signals along these routes will be timed to accommodate increased traffic volumes. Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control.
Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road)
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road) at the I-95 overpass for interchange and bridge project construction and storm sewer installation. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays.
(New) Wednesday – Friday, 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. Expect flagging operations on Mudd Tavern Road at the I-95 overpass.
Mallard Road
Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Mallard Road for project construction and storm sewer installation. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone.
Interstate 95 Bridge Rehabilitation Project
Work is underway to improve the deck and substructure on several bridges located on I-95 in Stafford and Spotsylvania.
Spotsylvania County: I-95 Bridge over Ni River at mile marker 121
The I-95 bridges over the Ni River are located just south of Exit 126/Massaponax at mile marker 121.

Stafford County: I-95 Bridge over Potomac Creek at mile marker 137
The I-95 bridges over Potomac Creek are located near Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) at mile marker 137. Drivers can expect lane closures at the following dates and times:

- 9 p.m. – single lane closed
- 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – two lanes closed
- 4:30 a.m. All lanes open the following morning

Interstate 95 Exit 130/Route 3/Fredericksburg Interchange Improvement Project
Construction is underway to modify the ramps and traffic pattern at the Interstate 95 and Route 3 (Exit 130) interchange in Fredericksburg to enhance safety. Motorists will encounter the following lane closures near Route 3, I-95 at Exit 130 and/or the Central Park shopping area.
Interstate 95 Northbound
(New) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 4:30 a.m. Expect a single lane to close at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m.
Route 3 Eastbound
Sunday ˗˗ Friday, 9:30 p.m. ˗˗ 5 a.m. Expect a single lane to be closed on Route 3 eastbound near Carl D. Silver Parkway.
(Update) Monday ˗˗ Tuesday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Single lane closure on Route 3 eastbound near Exit 130. Crews will be preparing a foundation for an overhead sign.
Route 3 Westbound
Sunday ˗˗ Friday, 10 p.m. ˗˗ 9 a.m. Expect a single lane to be closed on Route 3 westbound near Carl D. Silver Parkway.
Interstate 95 (Exit 140/Courthouse Road)
Work is underway to improve the I-95 interchange at Exit 140 (Route 630/Courthouse Road). The project includes building a diverging diamond interchange at Exit 140, relocating the Courthouse Road and Route 1 intersection to the south to align with Hospital Center Boulevard, and widening Courthouse Road to four lanes from Cedar Lane to Ramoth Church Road.
Route 630 (Courthouse Road)
Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. –1 2 p.m. Courthouse Road will be reduced to one lane from Austin Ridge Drive to Red Oak Drive. Crews will be working near the I-95/Exit 140 interchange.
Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Courthouse Road between Cedar Lane and Walpole Street for grading and pipe work as part of the widening project.
Ramoth Church Road
Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Ramoth Church Road from Courthouse Road to Dog Patch Lane for grading and pipe work. Flaggers will direct drivers in the work zone. Expect brief delays.
Reids Road
Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗ 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Reids Road to allow trucks to enter and exit the work zone.
Snowbird Lane
Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗ 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Snowbird Lane to allow trucks to enter and exit the work zone for grading and pipe work.
Winding Creek Road
Monday – Thursday, 9 ˗˗ 2 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. ˗ 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Winding Creek Road from Courthouse Road to Embrey Mill Road for pipe work.
Woodcutters Road
