From Spotsylvania County

The 14th annual Stars & Stripes Spectacular returns to the Spotsylvania Courthouse district Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 3-10 p.m. The event held at historic Spotsylvania Courthouse, the Holbert Building, Robert E. Lee Elementary School and Spotsylvania Courthouse Village, includes four stages of live music and entertainment. New this year—a children’s stage that includes a juggler & magician, a superhero meet & greet, a puppet show and other live performances.

This year’s event hosts over 30 food vendors, more than 40 business vendors, free children’s rides and
inflatables, as well as demonstrations from Spotsylvania fire & rescue, the sheriff’s office and the
military. Free tours of historic Spotsylvania Courthouse, the old jail and the county’s museum will also
be offered. There are numerous road closures associated with the event. Please see attached map for
further details.

Plenty of free parking is available at Courtland High School, where shuttle buses will transport attendees
to Robert E. Lee Elementary School. There is also limited free parking in the county’s public safety
building lot on Dean Ridings Lane. In addition, paid parking can be found in the field at the corner of
Brock Road and Courthouse Bypass (entrance off Brock Road). Field parking is a $5 donation to the
Spotsylvania High School Athletic Boosters.

Parents are encouraged to visit information tables and first aid stations upon arrival to have their kids
banded as part of the missing child wristband system. The evening concludes with an approximately 45-
minute spectacular fireworks display sponsored by Vakos Companies that is synchronized with a
musical soundtrack produced by staff at WBQB 101.5 FM. The rain date for this event is Sunday, July
1, 2018.

Spotsylvania Stars and Stripes Spectacular is the county’s Independence Day celebration held each year the Saturday before the Fourth of July. The event draws 25,000 to 30,000 people each year.
