Stafford, VA—A suspect was arrested early on Friday morning after crashing into a firetruck blocking an accident scene on Interstate 95 southbound and then driving away from the scene of the crash.

On July 27, 2018, at approximately 2:15 a.m., Deputy Justin Forman was on the scene of an auto accident on I-95 at mile marker 135 when he observed a silver vehicle crash into a firetruck blocking the right lane of the interstate. Deputy Forman began walking towards the scene of the crash when he observed the driver exit the vehicle. When the driver saw the deputy approaching, he got back into his vehicle and drove away.

Deputy Forman subsequently returned to his vehicle and was able to catch up to the suspect around mile marker 133. The suspect, identified as Jaydee Hutchinson, 27, of Alexandria, was taken into custody for DUI and hit and run. A search warrant for the suspect’s blood was obtained and executed.

Hutchinson was incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail on charges of DUI, hit and run, driving suspended, refusal of DUI test, and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. No one was injured as a result of the crash.
