What’s New at Brisben Center?

by | Aug 26, 2018 | Non-Profits

By N. David Cooper, Executive Director of Brisben Center

These are exciting times at the Brisben Center. Three new projects are progressing that will (1) reduce energy costs of the Center by 58% with the installation of solar energy, (2) engage children and adult residents with improving their nutrition and thereby their overall health, and (3) establish a Mobility Mentoring program. It will match 30 resident/mentees with mentors who will coach mentees at the shelter and after departure to achieve successes in five areas.

Some of the partners and supporters of these life-changing projects include the Mayor’s Clean and Green Commission; Grid Alternatives, Sustainable Power Group, Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region, Office of Governor Northam, Congressman Rob Wittman, Delegate Bob Thomas, Dr. Yum, VA Cooperative Extension, Moss Free Clinic, National Health Care for the Homeless Council, numerous congregations and businesses, and more.

The successes realized by these new projects will add to those already being achieved by the hard work, dedication and hand-up care provided by an awesome staff, amazing volunteers, and generous donors. Thank you all!

Please accept my personal invitation. I would be pleased to meet with you to discuss in greater detail your questions, interests, and concerns. Come have a meal. Tour the Center. Meet the staff. Together, we will reduce and end homelessness as we work together for the well being of all.
