From the Fredericksburg Area Museum

The Fredericksburg Area Museum (FAM) is excited to announce our involvement in an upcoming publication, “Fredericksburg Memories: A Pictorial History of the 1800s through the 1930s” partnering with The Free Lance-Star, Central Rappahannock Heritage Center, University of Mary Washington/Simpson Library Special Collections, and Pediment Publishing this hardcover coffee-table book will feature historic Fredericksburg photographs from local archives, and community members. This book is scheduled to be published in May 2019.

We invite you to join us for a digitization day Saturday, November 10 from 10am – 12pm at the Fredericksburg Area Museum. Members of the community are encouraged to bring their own photographs to be scanned by photo specialists. The images scanned during this event will potentially be featured in the upcoming publication. Photos must be original (no photocopies or newspaper clippings) and feature Fredericksburg between the 1800’s – 1939. This is one of several digitization days that will be happening in the Fredericksburg area. More information and submission forms can be found online.

For more information on this project, please either contact the Museum at 540-371- 3037, or visit www.famcc.org and Pediment.com. The FAM collects, researches, interprets, teaches, and preserves the history, heritage, and culture of the Fredericksburg region. We serve a diverse community through a commitment to inclusion, integrity, credibility, and relevance. We will facilitate an understanding and appreciation of how the acts of those who preceded us have shaped this community and the nation at large—providing both lessons and inspiration as we work together to forge a greater community.
