From the George Washington Foundation

2018 has been an exciting year for the George Washington Foundation! The first floor refurnishing of Kenmore has neared completion, and the Washington house at Ferry Farm opened for tours this Spring. Plan a holiday visit to both National Historic Landmarks and enjoy the festive exhibits and programs.

As we look ahead to 2019, vital exterior preservation projects are planned for Kenmore, such as repointing the chimneys that crown the roofline of the mansion, adjusting and restoring masonry on the historic front steps, and additional brick conservation.

At George Washington’s Ferry Farm, the process of outfitting the rooms of the Washington House with finely crafted, period furniture replicas is also nearing its scheduled 2019 completion. An imposing “best bed” with its striking blue bed curtains is the latest installment.
