STAFFORD, VA – What started as a modest way to beautify Hartwood Elementary School’s front office, evolved into an art initiative that spanned the entire school and redefined “School Spirit”. PONSHOP Studio’s Gabriel Pons worked with the school to create a 27-foot long canvas mural as well as integrate a “color band” system for the school’s hallways.

Hartwood Elementary principal Scott Elchenko worked with Pons to incorporate inspiring artwork with a message that embodies the spirit of the school.

Pons created a six-panel canvas mural that is a colorful mosaic of dense text. He calls it the “Hartwood Promise”. The writing was the result of a teacher that defined qualities of the school – its faculty, academic goals, and most importantly, the students’ character.
