REC power restoration continues after winter storm

by | Feb 21, 2019 | Weather

From Rappahannock Electric Cooperative:

The ground was already saturated before the storm, and heavy wet snow, sleet and freezing rain caused numerous trees to topple onto power lines. Power outages occurred mainly in Caroline, Hanover, Louisa, Orange and Spotsylvania counties.

REC crews this morning were joined by contractors and crews from out-of-state cooperatives providing mutual assistance. They will continue their work today until all outages have been restored.

Safety is always the top priority for our employees and member-owners. Downed power lines and trees touching the lines are extremely dangerous. If you see a downed line, report it by contacting REC or 911 and be sure to keep others away from the line.
