by | Apr 5, 2019 | Police and Fire

Spotsylvania Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management says a call came to 9-1-1 at 11:22 pm report that another occupant of the home had suffered burn injuries.

A Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived four minutes later and found a well involved fire in the home. Additional fire apparatus was requested to respond to the scene. Arriving at 11:27pm, firefighters were informed by neighbors that there was someone still inside the home.
Despite the efforts of bystanders, law enforcement and firefighters, Timothy Nageotte succumbed to the smoke and fire. A female occupant of the home suffered what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the fire.

More than 40 career and volunteer members from the Spotsylvania County Department of Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Management were on scene to bring the blaze under control. The City of Fredericksburg Fire Department assisted. A total of five engines, four aerials, four medical transport units and support staff responded. The incident was under control within 50 minutes of the original call. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
