The event is one of the largest Mary Washington hosts each year, attracting 5,000 to 6,000 people. Musical acts, dancers, children’s activities, vendors and more will dazzle. Hosted by the James Farmer Multicultural Center, the event brings student organizations, faculty and staff together with the community, exemplifying the University’s commitment to enhancing multicultural awareness.
“We are proud of this event that brings the campus and members of the local community together to embrace the many ethnicities, heritages and customs that make our region so rich and vibrant,” said James Farmer Multicultural Center Director Marion Sanford. “The impact for the campus and local community continues to be lauded and reflective of the mission of the James Farmer Multicultural Center and the University, to enhance cultural understanding, and create opportunities for global engagement.”
Due to the forecast of rain and possible thunderstorms, the 29th annual Multicultural Fair will move indoors, with various events held in campus buildings on Saturday, April 13, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The food vendors will remain in Ball Circle, but vendors of crafts and other wares will be located on the first and second floors of the University Center. The children’s area will move to the commuter lounge on the third floor of the University Center, while other performances will be held in Monroe Hall Room 116, the Lee Hall Underground and Dodd Auditorium in George Washington Hall.
