by | Apr 25, 2019 | Uncategorized

The trees are available for anyone living in the Fredericksburg region. The limit is two trees per household.  The Free Tree Giveaway, begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Tree Fredericksburg booth at Old Mill Park, and continues until supplies are gone. The Earth Day event begins at 10:30 a.m. and goes to 4 p.m., rain or shine.  There are 8 varieties of trees available: Southern Sugar Maple, White Dogwood, Swamp White Oak, River Birch, Sweet Bay Magnolia, American Hornbeam, Bald Cypress, Canadian Hemlock,

The free trees are made possible with a generous donation from Bartlett Tree Experts.  “We are happy to supply trees to celebrate Arbor Day and Earth Day in our community” said Jason Coiner, manager of Bartlett Tree Experts here in the Fredericksburg area.

All recipients of trees must agree to plant and care for their tree as per Tree Fredericksburg standards.  Correct mulching of a tree is critical to its growth and health. Over-mulching can smother a tree and lead to its decline.  Tree Fredericksburg Tree Stewards will be on hand to show proper planting and mulching techniques.
