Dr. Shelton has provided wound care services for over fifteen years. Starting in residency at Schwab Rehabilitation University of Chicago, he performed wound services at the bedside and has always been involved providing inpatient wound care at acute rehabilitation facilities and skilled nursing homes. With a background in physical medicine, his primary concern is to heal the wound beyond the wound bed and he often advises his patients about specialty beds, wheelchair cushions, nutrition, vascular status, blood sugar control, and more to ensure wounds heal and patients return to their best health.
Dr. Shelton received a degree in Chemistry from Morehouse College and a Doctor of Medicine from Howard University College of Medicine. After an internship in General Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital, he completed a residency and a fellowship in physical medicine, rehabilitation, sports medicine and pain management. He is wound care certified with the National Alliance of Wound Care and Healogics.
