2019 Fort Germanna Archaeology Public Access Days

While not open to the public daily, visitors get the chance to see the progress made while we work to uncover the fort that was commissioned by Lt. Governor Alexander Spotswood in 1714 and settled by German colonists who assisted Spotswood in beginning his mining operation. Please stop by the visitor center to pick up directions to the dig site and learn the story of why the two Germanna colonies settled on the Virginia frontier.

Filmmaker Carl Denham (Robert Armstrong), recent discovery Ann Darrow and his team discover a giant prehistoric ape, dubbed Kong, while searching for locations on an uncharted jungle island. The crew manages to subdue the primate and bring Kong to New York to exploit him in a stage show from which he promptly escapes, spreading mayhem.

Culpeper Downtown Farmers Market, Parking Lot at the Corner of East Davis and North Commerce St This summer join Virginia Cooperative Extension’s Culpeper VA Family Nutrition Program (FNP) for a series of STEAM-based cooking activities. STEAM activities available at this year’s Culpeper Downtown Farmers Market are appropriate for ages 5-11. Little artists will use a variety of spreads and toppings to create a masterpiece on a pancake.
