Fredericksburg Police beefing up patrols with school back in session

by | Aug 9, 2019 | Police and Fire

According to a report by the Governors Highway Safety Association released earlier this year, excessive vehicle speed is a persistent factor in nearly one-third of all motor vehicle-related fatalities. “We are all juggling a busy schedule and have a list of obligations that seems to keep growing. Regardless of how over-committed a person is, speeding from one place to another only puts everyone on the roadways in danger,” said Brian Layton, Patrol Division Commander. “Our officers are dedicated to eliminating careless driving on our roadways.”

City Police will perform saturated patrols focused on speed enforcement over the next several weeks. Additionally, City Police will utilize social media to remind drivers to obey set speed limits.   Regardless of how cute the excuse is, there is never a reason to speed.
